Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps (BCMH)
The Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps supports
diagnostic and coordinated treatment services for children with special
health care needs. To qualify a child must:
- be under 21 years of age
- be an Ohio resident
- be under the care of BCMH approved physician
- require diagnostic evaluation to rule out certain conditions
- Have an eligible medical condition that requires further treatment
- Be financially eligible for BCMH to pay for treatment services
Eligible services may include:
- Days in the hospital
- Hearing Aids
- Special shoes
- Lab tests and X-rays
- Physical, occupational, or speech therapy
- Special diagnostic tests
- Surgery and anesthesia
- Prescription medications
- Medical equipment and supplies
- Eyeglasses/contact lenses when related to eligible diagnosis
